A deep dive into the timeline in the new child competency law, which went into effect July 9,2021 (previously Senate bill 562, 2021). The WV Public Defender Juvenile Law Task Force, Teresa McCune, Joshua Edwards, Ashley Batten and Mackenzie Hardin, will examine the time periods and deadlines required by the statute and how these requirements affect the children we represent.
