The WVU Traumatic Brain Injury Services Program will be providing this training and discussing a general overview of a traumatic brain injury (TBI) with prevalent statistics. This course will include the impact of TBI on everyday functioning and will discuss how a TBI increases challenging behaviors that could impact clients’ interaction in the courtroom. We will review TBI at the intersection of at-risk populations including substance use disorder, reentry, and survivors of physical violence. We will also discuss what a TBI looks like and how to provide appropriate accommodations based on the individual symptoms. Lastly, we will be providing a training on how to properly screen for traumatic brain injuries and include different resources for individuals with TBI.
